Privacy Policy for The Crowd

Last Updated: March 1, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to The Crowd. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and website. Our primary goal is to help you find nearby cafes in Seoul without compromising your privacy.

2. Information We Collect

To provide our core service, we require access to specific data:

  • Location Data: We request access to your device's precise location (GPS coordinates). This is strictly used in real-time to calculate your distance from nearby cafes and display them on the map.
  • Usage Data: We may collect anonymous, non-identifying data regarding how you interact with the app to improve the user experience.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your location data is processed ephemerally. When you open the app, your coordinates are sent securely to our backend and third-party mapping services (such as the Kakao Local API) solely to retrieve the list of cafes in your immediate vicinity. We do not track your location in the background, nor do we permanently store your location history on our servers.

4. Third-Party Services

The Crowd integrates with trusted third-party services to function. These services have their own privacy policies:

  • Kakao Local API: Used for fetching accurate cafe data and locations in South Korea.
  • Supabase: Used as our secure backend database infrastructure.
  • Vercel: Used for hosting our web infrastructure.

5. Your Rights

You have full control over your data. You can revoke location permissions at any time through your iOS or Android device settings. Please note that withdrawing location access will prevent the core mapping features of The Crowd from functioning.

6. Contact Us
